§ 20-56. Supervision and control of department.

  • (a)

    It shall be the duty of the chief of police, subject to the city manager, to supervise the police department.

    (b)

    The chief of police shall have immediate control of the policemen, and shall carefully note their conduct, conditions and faithfulness. He shall instruct the members of the police department in the law of arrests and shall divide the city into routes for day and also for night, so arranged that the whole territory shall be covered at all times by policemen on duty.

    (c)

    The chief of police shall assign such duties as he deems best to the police officers.
