§ 21-24. Trash disposal at business establishments.

  • (a)

    Containers. Business establishments in the city shall provide suitable trash bins, of metal or other acceptable material. The size, type and location of such trash bins or containers shall be determined by the public services director. With approval of the public services director, a business establishment may elect to use the city's roll-out cart system where applicable.

    (b)

    Deposit of waste. Businesses shall not throw, place or deposit or cause to be thrown, placed or deposited any waste material as defined in subsection (a) of this section, in any street, alley, public place or private property in the city, except in the receptacles required by subsection (a) of this section or as prescribed by the public services director. In those areas where cardboard is collected for recycling, businesses may deposit flattened cardboard containers in front of the business on the day of collection only.

    (c)

    Designated collection points. The public services director may designate for a business a central collection point for multiple businesses. Collection containers will be provided by the city at no charge, but charges will be assessed as outlined in section 21-30. If recycling is also provided, a separate charge will be assessed also. Where central collection points have been established for a business, no business shall place any containers or waste as defined in subsection (a) of this section on the sidewalk or street. If recycling is provided, any materials for recycling may not be placed on the sidewalk or street including flattened cardboard containers.
