§ 20-88. Call to duty.

  • The reserve police officer may be called to active duty during an emergency or on special occasions when regular police officers of the city require their assistance and shall be subject to call of the chief of police for training at other times. The chief of police is authorized to determine when the services of volunteer policemen are required. Such officers may report to the chief of police or his designated representative at any time and be assigned duty. Reserve police officers may be assigned by the chief of police or his designated representative to provide security and police protection at ballgames, parades, dances, public ceremonies and other similar gatherings. Any compensation paid by any group, gathering, company or other private or public organization in return for the services of such reserve police officers shall be deposited to the account of the police reserve for its use and benefit as provided for in its bylaws.
